Sadly, there is a bug in 0.07 under Leopard that causes the playlist to become corrupted. Anybody having this issue should try the latest unstable build. To get it, you can change Cog’s update preferences to ‘Unstable’ and then ‘Check for updates’. Or, you can download the update manually from here.

On a happier note, things are progressing nicely with 0.08. There have been many improvements, including a customizable toolbar-based interface and undo support! Stay tuned!

It’s that time again! Here is Cog 0.07. It may look the same, but now you can play your video game music, tracker formats, and can even use those lovable cue sheet files. Also, you may now use Cog in Dutch, Russian, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified), or Catalan. Enjoy!

After a little over a year, I bring you Cog 0.06. Hopefully the wait was worth it. It features a new UI, plugin support, preferences, and much more!

Grab it from the download page while supplies last!

Ahoy thar! Cog’s virtually ready for release. The only thing stopping it are the rotten bugs lurking in its scurvy innards. Grab the latest nightly build from the development section and clobber it like a no good landlubber. In the likely circumstance that you find a bug, please report it at ye olde development forums.

Translations are also needed. Click here for more details.

As version 0.06 comes closer to release, I want to get as many people testing it as possible so Cog can be as stable as possible.

So, if you look at the development section, you can now download the absolute latest in-development version of Cog. Please report any and all bugs to the development forum.

To make things even easier, I have modified the auto-updater so you can select the «Nightly» appcast in the preferences to automatically check for and install updates from within Cog.

Обзор программы Cog

Last.fm.

Стоит добавить, что программа абсолютно бесплатна.

UPD.

Notification Center:

Lightweight audio player for a wide number of formats

The number of new audio formats keeps increasing as people find ways to compress music into ever smaller files while maintaining sound quality. Cog is a simple audio player that makes sure you can play all of them.

The problem with changing formats is that your audio player — such as iTunes — soon gets left behind until updates are made or plug-ins developed. Cog is designed to solve this problem by offering compatibility with just about any format out there, including the more obscure ones. These include Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, Musepack, Monkeys Audio, AAC, skip and Wavpack.

Cog allows you to drag and drop files into it, read unicode tags and create playlists. What’s great is that Cog supports Growl alerts, so you can see what’s playing without even looking at the player and it can even scrobble what you’re listening to to Last.fm. It’s completely free to use and open source so you can modify it as you like.

The preferences are very limited and there’s no album info, cover art or artist info included in it. There have also been some playlist corruption problems in Snow Leopard, although these are set to be ironed out in the next release.

For anyone that needs a free but powerful audio player for all but the most obscure formats, Cog is a great solution lightweight solution.

Cog is authored by Vincent Spader. It is released under the GPL. See COPYING for details.

The libraries folder contains various decoding and tagging libraries, which i have created Xcode projects for, and possibly modified to make compile on OS X. The various libraries are under each of their own licenses/copyrights.

All Cog code is copyrighted by me, and is licensed under the GPL. Cog contains bits of other code from third parties that are under their own licenses/copyright.

If you would like the photoshop sources for the various icons and graphics, please send me an email, and I will be happy to get them to you.

I have forked this player to continue maintaining it for others to use, as its original author appears to have left it by the wayside. I will try to continue updating as I find more things that need fixing, or if I find new features to add which seem like they would be useful to me or others.

Up to date binaries will be available at the following link:
